Well, I thought Matt and Beth's idea about sharing stories was a good one. I guess someone has to start.... Please, everyone post a story so I'm not so lonely! :)
I grew up in Warren. I'm third generation skilled trades working for GM. My Dad was a tool maker for GM. My grandfather was a toolmaker for GM. I think I'll tell a story about my grandfather.
He was born on a ship, arriving from Poland, to Canada. I believe it was Windsor, so a lot of the people were heading to the USA, even though it docked in another country. He had dual Polish/ Canadian citizenship, and spoke French, English, and Polish as native languages. He grew up in Canada, and later moved to the US, and got married, had children, and became a naturalized citizen. My dad, born before that date, was a citizen before my grandpa was.
My grandma, was an infant on a ship from Poland, and grew up in the Detroit area. She met my grandpa and they got married. Eventually, they found out... they had both come from Poland on the exact same ship. How bizarre is that? :)
